The building originally operated as the Geneva Washing Machine Company (1921–1927).

Elder Shirt & Collar Manufacturing Company occupied the building, employing many local residents.

The Elder Flood

The building survived the Elder MFG Flood during one of the area’s periodic Mississippi River floods.
